The Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall, a charitable non-profit organization, owns and operatestwo of Canada’s most iconic concert halls. Massey Hall has just completed the most extensive renovation in its history with a rejuvenated auditorium, enhanced amenities for artists and patrons, and will soon realize the addition of new performance venues as part of Allied Music Centre. Roy Thomson Hall serves as the home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, welcomes the Toronto International Film Festival’s red carpet gala premieres, and plays host to a dynamic array of cultural events throughout the year. Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Development, The Donor Stewardship Specialist will be responsible for planning and executing events and activities to engage donors and steward their support. This role will work closely with the Donor Relations Manager to design event concepts that showcase Massey Hall's impact and appreciation for donors. The Donor Stewardship Specialist will also manage post-event stewardship efforts to ensure continued donor engagement and satisfaction.
Job Duties
- Plan and execute donor recognition events, stewardship gatherings, and cultivation activities
- Collaborate with the Donor Relations Manager to develop event concepts that align with donor interests and organizational goals
- Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, invitations, and on-site management
- Work with the Marketing and Communications team to promote donor events and recognition efforts
- Collaborate across departments on projects related to campaign awareness and promotion, maintaining the master campaign timeline, and development of collateral materials such as the Case for Support and Annual Reports
- Create and implement stewardship plans to thank donors and demonstrate impact of their* support
- Manage donor communications and follow-up, ensuring timely and personalized responses to donor inquiries
- Monitor event budgets and expenses to ensure efficient use of resources
- Collaborate with Development team to integrate event strategies into overall fundraising plans
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in donor stewardship and event management
- Work collaboratively with other areas within MH-RTH to synergize organizational themes, activities to optimize the donor experience and to ensure compelling content
Reqiurements
- Bachelor's degree in related field (e.g., Event Management, Communication, Non-profit Management)
- Experience in event planning, donor stewardship, or related roles
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Detail-oriented with a focus on providing exceptional donor experiences
- High proficiency in Tessitura and/or equivalent donor and patron databases
- Proficient user of prospect research tools and databases such as iWave and CharityCAN
- Previous experience with Canada Revenue Agency guidelines and familiarity with AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals) Donor Bill of Rights and AFP Code of Ethical Principals and Standards
