Variations: Peter Katz, "Come Down"

Placeholder image

Watch Peter Katz perform "Come Down"' on the Glenn Gould Piano in the Roy Thomson Hall lobby as part of the Variations series, featuring The Powerhouse Fellowship Soul Choir.

"I’ve walked by that Glenn Gould piano many times at Roy Thomson Hall, always secretly wanting to break the rules and jump up there and play it. It was quite the feeling to actually be encouraged to get up there and play it! I should have hummed along while I was playing though to have really been true to what that piano is used to…. What an honour (and what a piano! Played like a dream)." - Peter Katz

About Variations
On display in the north lobby of Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall is Glenn Gould’s CF II Yamaha Concert Grand Piano. The very piano Gould used to record his last four albums, including the Grammy award-winning 1981 Bach: The Goldberg Variations. This original new series brings the sound of that grand instrument back to life with artists performing variation on their own original material.
