About us
The Corporation of Massey Hall & Roy Thomson Hall, a charitable non-profit organization, owns and operates two of Canada’s most iconic concert halls. Massey Hall is nearing completion of the most extensive renovation in its history with a rejuvenated auditorium, enhanced amenities for artists and patrons, and will soon realize the addition of new performance venues as part of Allied Music Centre. Roy Thomson Hall serves as the home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, welcomes the Toronto International Film Festival’s red carpet gala premieres, and plays host to a dynamic array of cultural events throughout the year. The Corporation is actively engaged in Artist Development and Education & Community Outreach initiatives as an investment in the next generation of artists and audiences.

Summary
We are currently looking for additional Bar Staff, Captains, and Supervisors to join our Food & Beverage Team. The Food and Beverage team is responsible for providing personable, professional guest service, ensuring guest safety, and contributing to the efficient operation of the lounge, sponsor bar area and all other areas of the Food and Beverage Department during shows/events.

Job Duties

Guest Service
• Provide quality customer service to guests including but not limited to greeting guests by name, identifying any needs that they may have and seeing to them
• Proactively maintain current knowledge of upcoming events, and services/facilities available at the Halls and surrounding areas to be able to expertly respond to guest’s questions
• Ensure responsible service of alcohol
• Assist in the set-up of the lounge and sponsor bars and concessions, ensure adequate supplies are available prior to each performance or event
• Adhere to, communicate, and enforce all lounge policies
• Support staff in selling bar and concession items, minimizing wastage and spillage; help with clearing dirty glassware from sponsor areas
• Help maintain cleanliness of sponsor bar and concession areas in accordance with Ontario Health regulations and the Corporation’s policies
• Resolve guest complaints and if necessary, escalate to management
• Ensure cleanliness and readiness of assigned areas prior to event
• Provide feedback to management with respect to guest comments and concerns
• Ensure assistance for guests with special needs
• Help with the washing of glassware and restocking sponsor bars at end of every shift
• Complete Stock Sheets and cash deposit information at the end of shift when
• Return unused stock to appropriate storage areas at each workstation in accordance with security procedures and Corporation’s policies
• Report any items requiring cleaning and/or repair immediately to lounge coordinator or management
• Identify potential problems and report to management, developing solutions wherever possible

Other duties as required
Guest Safety
• Maintain a current, in-depth knowledge of emergency procedures and be prepared to coordinate emergency evacuations or respond to guest incidents
• Ensure that no unsafe conditions exist in assigned area and make changes as required
• Ensure a safe traffic flow is maintained in all public areas
• Enforce the assigned room capacities of the lounge and all other areas

Leadership
• Act as a positive role model for other staff with respect to professionalism, guest service and teamwork
• Ensure you are informed of specific details of each event
• Work with team members, Front of House managers and supervisors to coordinate activities and maximize the efficiency of operations

Requirements
• Previous food and beverage service experience with cash handling
• Smart Serve
• Catering experience
• Flexibility required, average 15-20 hours weekly, day, evening and weekend shifts required, if there are shows on both Saturday and Sunday, employees are required to work one of the days
• Employees are required to work 2 (two) of the following dates: December 24th, December 31st, and January 1st
• Work at least 50% plus 1 (one) of the shows and events scheduled each week (a combination of days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Friendly, outgoing disposition toward patrons and co-workers
• Dedication to excellence and superior customer service essential
• Professional manner with excellent communication and people skills
